Vienna is a great city! And during Christmas, it definitely has a special vibe!
Lighted streets, steaming cups of hot wine, curious people with red cheeks, ads that break through the dense curtain of darkness, magnificent palaces that, if you sit for a few minutes in a chair with your eyes closed, still exudes a strong imperial vibration – all these make Vienna a city worth visiting, especially at Christmas time [the palace gardens would be nice to see in spring though]!
I’m not here for the first time, but I’m still fascinated by it!
In the meantime, I will let you admire some pictures taken by me these days. I didn’t upload pictures of me because I’m sure you’re tired enough by my face on Instagram @ andreea.chirila. Still … if you haven’t seen my instamoments, you can search for #saytravel & #saywien
Another destination will follow in a few days!! 😀
Oh, wait. If you ever visit Vienna, I recommend to:
-walk through Stephansplatz admiring the imposing cathedral & the extravagantly Viennese buildings
-visit the colourful Hundertwasserhaus, Belvedere Palace with its impressive art gallery (I loved, loved, loved the works of Gustav Klimt – btw, you can find up-to-date info about him HERE -, Edvard Munch, Ernst Kirchner, Richard Gerstl, Max Pechstein & Emil Nolde – yep, I’m fascinated by the expressionists), Schonbrunn Palace with its imperial apartments & furniture & the zoological garden – this is the oldest zoo in the whole world, built in 1752!
-shop on Mariahilfer Straße (there are lots and lots of shops for every budget)
-eat the famous Viennese schnitzel and the sachertorte
-go to the opera
