RO:

To be continued.

`be the best you can be`, probabil, aici isi are radacinile).

Astept, asadar, urmatoare editie! Ne vedem acolo, da? 😀

EN:

I was telling you in the last article about my experience at this year’s edition of TEDx event which took place in Iasi and I stopped my sayings somewhere in the middle of the list, since the last speaker I was talking about was the dancer of the day, Alexandru Damaschin.

I will insert you quickly in the atmosphere of the conference and I tell you that, on the stage of TEDx Iasi, stepped  the youngest speaker of this edition, Ana Rotaru, a student of the “Petru Rares” National College from Piatra Neamt, along with her Geography teacher. They have shown us, once again, how important a simple idea is and how far you can go with it. In their case, it was the $ 100,000 prize awarded by the jury from United Arab Emirates at the `Zayed Future Prize 2015` gala for the transformation of the old school building in a building equipped with systems for reduce the conventional energy consumption and the natural resources. Clever? And so, another idea is rewarded (big time!).

The next speaker was the one that produced giggles in the audience. In fact, what am I saying? The whole audience was laughing their heart out! Who am I talking about? About Ion Barbu, who else? Using clever yet so brave metaphors everywhere, Ion Barbu was able to approach to the hearts of the audience in a nicker time. Starting from the idea that Romania is a great …. great ignorance, he told us that there are still (!) several “literary islands”, some islands where culture, creativity and common sense are in power, and one of those islands is Petrila. In this small town, Ion Barbu makes twists and turns, initiating all kinds of projects, all amazing: Romanian poetry anthology stood against the wall, `Colonia Rasa – Plansa`, Bad Man Festival, he founded “The Mother’s Museum”, almost two years ago, hmm .. but nothing I say here can make you truly understand how cool all these projects are. So take a look at the video above. All the way to the end. Trust me! : D

You wonder if he can produce  any other idea since there are so many? Oooh, yeah! Two other projects will be released soon: he wants to implement a festival of underground theater and some … smart clothes. You will see soon! To be continued. 😀

Talking about culture, the next speaker, Matt Keen, based his speech on the premise that culture shapes all conversations. And for coordinating and controlling better our entire system (thinking, behavior, speech etc.), we must know ourselves better (“know yourself to lead yourself”). He demonstrates how important it is to always choose to learn continuously (“leading yourself to learn”) and to create a cultural environment in which we live and in which we reveal the best image of ourselves  (see? the phrase`Be the best you can be` probably has its roots here).

To show that ambition and creativity have no limits in the TEDx, the next speakers (and they were so many!) came with a racing car made by themselves! This is the group of students from T.U. Iasi Racing. They explained how they managed to coordinate themselves and how they are willing to transmit their knowledge to the future generations of students since the group’s rule is that all the team members should be students.

And so we got to the last person who spoke at the conference: Radu Vasile. Although his story seems sad at first because he is blind, I will honestly say that I saw him smiling more than an average person smiles in 20 minutes of conversation. Radu Vasile is the one who created a synthetic voice, a software that tells exactly what is on the laptop screen and enables him to conduct his IT business normally. He strongly believes that essential in life is to innovate  first on yourself, and any disability can be refilled by knowledge. Given that he owns an IT company at the time, I say, give him credit and also consider his story a successful one.

It is the first time I attended a TEDx conference, but I believe that such activities aroused the best ideas and motivated me to implement them.

I’m waiting, therefore,  for the next edition! See you there, ok? : D
